We are getting a late start on 'Spring Cleaning' here at the Higdon home. We decided to convert the spare bedroom into an office for my husband so things have been extra chaotic the last few weeks! We've shampooed the carpet, set-up some new office equipment, and even polished some of the furniture.
One of the items that needed a little TLC was a bookshelf I purchased second-hand in college. At one time it was a pretty nice bookshelf, but years of neglect has caused the wood to become dry and dull. So I thought this would be a great chance to try out Daddy Van's Furniture Polish. After wiping down the shelf to remove all the dust, I took an old sock and a bit of polish and began to rub it into the wood. Because the wood was very dry I let the polish set a little before buffing it off.
My daughter decided that her wooden rocking horse needed some love too so I gave her an old sock, a dab of the unscented polish and we went to work. And you know what? Because of the simple ingredient list there's no worries! Daddy Van's is made from unrefined beeswax, olive oil, and carnauba wax. Some of the polishes have essential oils to give it a nice scent.
When we finished, both my shelf and her rocking horse had a nice, clean shine to them! As a bonus, the olive oil worked as a moisturizer leaving my hands feeling extra soft!
