Packing day is coming soon and it's time to start wrapping up your Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes!  But before you close the lid, be sure to put in a personal letter to the child who will receive it.  You've spent all year thinking about this child.  Buying him presents, and praying prayers over him and his treasures.  Let him know how much you care by including a letter, family picture, and an address he can write back to.

Don't be disappointed if you don't get a letter back.  We've been packing for 3 or 4 years and have never received a letter, but that's not why we do it.  There are children all around the world that need to know someone cares about them.  And that even if people they love leave them, God loves them and never will.

If you have small children you might want to try using Samaritan's Purse's form letter.  I have printed out several copies for my daughter to color.  When she's done, we sit down and fill in the blanks together about where she's from and what things she likes.  It's very simple and it gives younger children a chance to be involved.

One Kindergarten class drew pictures to put in their boxes.  Each box had 2-3 pictures that had been hand-drawn just for the child opening the box!

No matter how old you are (or whatever your written or artistic abilities), we all have ways of communicating.  It doesn't matter how you express yourself as long as the love and care can be felt by the recipient!

All my experienced packers out there--did you get a letter back from your Operation Christmas Child?
