I remember one day showing up to my daughter's daycare to see a little boy clinging to his father's legs. Tears rolled down his cheeks as his father tried desperately to get the little boy go inside so he could leave for work. As I walked up with my baby girl he looked at me and tiredly said, "Some days will be better than others."
While I am by no means and expert at parenting (let's be honest, who is?), I have experienced my fair share of battles. I've gone to unlock my office door at work only to find that my keys have been replaced by Barbie keys. I've been working on homework just to have my daughter re-start the computer. I've done road-side diaper changes because we couldn't wait till the next town. I've been pooped on, spit up on, screamed at, and pounced on. There have been nights where I have laid in bed and prayed night would last forever because I didn't think I could handle the screaming baby the morning would bring. There were some bad days.
But just when I think I can't take anymore, there are better days. There are days where my daughter brings me imaginary tea while I finish my homework. There are even days when she sits down beside me so she can work on her "homework" too! There are days where she jumps out of bed or runs to the door to greet me with a smile! There are silly dances, silly stories, and silly songs. There are days when she grabs onto my finger and won't let go!
New mothers, I warn you. There will be days where you will wonder what you've gotten yourself into. It happens to everyone. Don't get discouraged! You're doing fine. Any experienced mother will tell you she's been through it too. But keep you chin up, because there are days that will be better!
